5 reasons to attend Cocktails In The City: Summer Edition
Cocktails In The City is returning to London’s Bedford Square Gardens for one of the best weekend events of the drinking calendar.
It’s that time of year again when we celebrate the hopefully-sunny weather and all the joys of the season by sipping sumptuous drinks in the glorious outdoors.
That’s right, on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th July, Cocktails In The City is returning to London’s Bedford Square Gardens for one of the best weekend events of the drinking calendar.
25 of London’s best and most creative bars will descend on the leafy venue to compete for the title of Best Bar by serving up incredible inventions and delicious libations. And that’s not all; a host of games, workshops, live music and general fun and mingling make this a wonderful whirlwind of mixology marvels, all celebrating the best that the cocktail scene has to offer.
Need more convincing? Here are five things that can’t be missed at this year’s event.
1. All of the cocktails you've ever dreamt of
Well, obviously. Check out the drinks on the menu at the is al fresco extravaganza. Lemon Sherbet Margaritas? Nitro Copper Mule?, Whiskey Ginger Cups? Caramel vodka jelly bites with sea salt foam and a glass of champagne? Yes to all of it!
2. Things to see and do other than just drink
With each bar serving up a memorable experience with their creations, previous years have seen the likes of silent discos, live cabarets and technical master classes contributing to the fun. This year, CITC is also putting up a themed Mother Putter Golf Course for those that like some friendly competition with their drink.
3. There’s going to be a G&T Ice Cream Parlour
Here’s something to please both the child and the adult cocktail enthusiast in you: Gin-infused ice cream! Thank you to whichever genius has brought this into our lives.
4. Mocktails done right
This year there is a special focus on alcohol-free drinks, with every bar offering a mocktail creation alongside their signature serves. CITC promise fresh ingredients and beautiful garnishes.
5. Learn the craft
With tasting tables and master classes, there are opportunities to get more actively involved in the experience. Tequilafest will be hosting a series of tequila and mescal tastings, while Belszar Vermouth will be running classes in how to perfectly create cocktails with a low ABV. Even more excitingly, Chivas Regal are providing Whiskey blending sessions that give you the chance to create your own 200ml bottle of personalised whiskey.
