There is no denying that strawberries and Wimbledon go hand-in-hand.
The accompaniment to the tennis has been a staple since the first ever Wimbledon tournament in 1877, with spectators tucking into strawberries and cream on the sidelines.
At Tipple Box, we reckon the tennis tournament should be celebrated with a drink in hand so we’ve shaken up some strawberry cocktails fit for Centre Court.
Strawberries and Cream G&T
Poetic License have captured the essence of summer with their Picnic Gin, combining traditional botanicals such as juniper and coriander with a mix of ‘real strawberries and cream’.
- 50ml Poetic License Picnic Gin
- Elderflower Tonic Water
- Strawberry (To Garnish)
Method: Stir all ingredients in an ice-filled glass.
For summer, Sipsmith has created a Strawberry and Cream Gin Liqueur blending fresh English strawberries with handmade milk sugar and their classic London Dry Gin.
- 45ml Sipsmith Strawberry and Cream Gin Liqueur
- 20ml Lime Juice
- Soda (To Top)
- Strawberry (To Garnish)
Method: Stir liqueur and lime juice together in an ice-filled glass and top with soda water.
Blooming Strawberries and Cream
This drink is ready for the summer sunshine featuring Bloom’s Strawberry Cup. Made by steeping strawberries in Bloom’s traditional London Dry Gin, the drink includes traditional English botanicals such as chamomile, pomelo and honeysuckle.
- 50ml Bloom Strawberry Cup
- 25ml Bloom Gin
- 50ml Double Cream
- 10ml Vanilla Syrup
- 2 Strawberries
Method: Muddle strawberries in your cocktail shaker and add the rest of the ingredients with ice and shake. For a frothier top, remove ice and re-shake. Fine strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a strawberry.
It’s not all about the gin, this recipe from BBC Good Food has shaken up this strawberry-infused vodka summer sip.
- 25ml Vodka
- 25ml Strawberry Puree
- 15ml Strawberry & Elderflower Cordial
- 10ml Lime Juice
- Ginger Ale
Method: Shake vodka, strawberry puree, strawberry and elderflower cordial and lime juice together with ice. Strain into a highball glass and top with Ginger Ale.
From vodka to rum as Be A Better Bartender has shaken up a martini with a dash of cream to keep that Wimbledon spirit of sweetness.
- 3 Strawberries
- 37.5ml White Rum (1 1/2 Shots)
- 37.5ml Strawberry Liqueur
- 12.5ml Single Cream (1/2 Shot)
- 12.5ml Sugar Syrup (1/2 Shot)
Method: Muddle strawberries in bottom of shaker and add all other ingredients with ice and shake. Fine strain into a chilled martini glass.
