There are many tales of how the Mojito came to life, but Le Bodeguita del Medio bar in Cuba claims to be the birthplace of the Mojito.
Writer Ernest Hemingway famously praised the bar's version of the drink which has been served since the bar opened in 1942.
How to make the perfect Mojito
- 2 Springs of Mint
- 100ml Sparkling Water
- 50ml Rum
- 1/2 Lime
- 2 Teaspoons Sugar
Method: Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice from one half. Mix half the sugar and lime with a spoon in the bottom of the glass. Muddle some mint into the mixture, add rum and ice before mixing again. Top with sparkling water and garnish with a spring of mint.
