We’re continuing our Summer of Gin celebrations at Tipple Box with our Gin of the Week series!

We’ll be taking you on a tour of the UK’s top eight gin distilleries and shining a spotlight on our favourite gin from their collection, letting you into the secrets behind the spirit - straight from the distillery.

Kickstarting our distillery spotlight is one of our favourite gins - Rock Rose!

THE STORY OF ROCK ROSE GIN

Launched in 2014 in Caithness, Rock Rose Gin has been a staple favourite spirit at Tipple Box since our early days.

Rock Rose Gin is distilled in Dunnet Bay Distillery, located near Caithness, on the far north coast of Scotland.

The gin was produced by husband and wife team Martin and Claire Murray who found their selected botanical blend after 55 experiments - you’d count them too if you were seeking perfection!

Setting out to distil a spirit that would celebrate the heritage and provenance of their home county, Rock Rose Gin is made with a combination of five local and traditional botanicals hand-foraged from local cliffs and forests, alongside exotic botanicals sourced from around the world.

Having an ecosystem on the distillery doorstep, it's the local botanicals that help make Rose Rose truly special. One of which is even the spirit’s namesake - Rhodiola Rosea (aka the Rock Rose). A botanical found on Caithness wild coastline, it was once harvested by Vikings over 1000 years ago as it was thought to give strength and vitality for them to continue on their long, arduous journeys… Gin with strength-enhancing ingredients? Say no more!

Floral and fruity yet smooth and sweet, Rock Rose Gin will make your summer!

THE ROCK ROSE GIN PERFECT SERVE

Each distillery has created their own perfect serves which we’ll be sharing across our Summer of Gin so you can taste a gin and tonic as intended by the distillers.

In true married couple style, owners Martin and Claire have debated their perfect serve - Martin opts for toasted rosemary while Claire enjoys a curl of orange peel.

Of course, the perfect gin and tonic is completely down to personal taste and you can experiment in any way - why not have both?!

  • 25ml Rock Rose Gin
  • 50ml Fever-Tree Indian Tonic
  • Garnish - Toasted Rosemary or Orange Peel

Method: Grab a glass and fill with large chunky ice cubes, pour over your Rock Rose Gin and top with tonic water. Garnish with rosemary or orange peel - or both!

THE ROCK ROSE GIN AND TONIC GIFT SET

The Tipple Box Rock Rose Gin and Tonic Set features four miniature bottles of Rock Rose original Gin alongside perfectly paired Fever-Tree tonic water, with enough ingredients to enjoy up to eight gin and tonics per box - or four glasses of gin and tonic if you prefer your gin and tonics a little on the stronger side!

All you need to do is make sure you’ve ice in the freezer and garnishes at-hand - whether you opt for Martin’s choice, Claire’s pick or your very own addition to make the perfect Rock Rose Gin and Tonic!
